California Here We Come!!!

Just when I thought this year couldn't get any bigger, life decided to prove us wrong! Eric grew up in Orange County, California and he loves the beach more than anything in this world. As do I. We've visited his parents a couple of times since being engaged and married and each time we come up with more plans to figure out how we're going to live there haha.

Eric is currently going to school to become a Pharmacy Technician (which he's just about done with) and he's also completing the classes he needs to be accepted into a Pharmacy school somewhere around the country. Well, we figured out that if we just move down there and room with his parents for a while, we'll save a lot more money and he'll be making  more money as a pharmacy tech down there then he would be up here. It seemed kind of like a win-win for us! Warm weather, beaches, surfing (especially for Eric), salty air... nothing really seems wrong about it. The only con will be missing my family.. I've lived in Utah for 20 years and besides visiting places, I don't know what it's like to live outside of my bubble. I will miss my family, but I'm so excited about this new chapter in our lives!

We will be leaving this coming July and coming back for my sisters wedding in August!I'm sure we will visit often because I love my family way too much :) We already have a list of visitors, we can't wait!

Health wise: I graduated from the chiropractor! He helped me out so much and now I'll just need to go to a different one in Cali for check ups :) Our diet that I mentioned in my last post has been so great! The first little bit is a "detox" stage and it's not that fun, I won't lie. But now we can eat tons of food and we feel so healthy and wonderful! It's crazy the difference food can make.

My semester is almost over and now I'm going to just kick of my photography business! I'll get a website and blog up and going so if you or anyone you know needs pictures, give me a call!

There's the update of our crazy life! We're still insanely in love and being married is the greatest thing in the world!

Getting Healthy!

Eric and  I are pretty healthy people. We eat well and are pretty active, but there are a lot of issues interfering with our perfect, healthy lifestyle. Eric is lactose intolerant which isn't fun for him, and I am allergic to corn. This means I'm allergic to corn on the cob, canned corn, corn syrup, corn starch, corn oil, msg, maltodextrin, and a few other things that only Eric knows the big words of. Every time we go shopping, we have to check all of the ingredients in everything we buy. Even if corn starch is at the very bottom of the list, we don't get it. Now you might be thinking "What will happen if you eat corn??" And this brings us into my next interfering problem which is Fibromyalgia. This is an auto-immune disease that causes your nerves to be overactive. They get wrong signals from the brain and fire up, which causes not so pleasant pain through out my body almost all the time. Things that really set off the pain are high altitude and cold or extreme climate changes (Brilliant for us, we live in Utah!), stress, not enough sleep, and food allergies such as CORN. So when I eat anything with corn in it, I get a super bad tummy ache, sometimes I break out in hives (sexy, I know) and it really sets off my Fibromyalgia. You'd think that as long as I just stayed away from corn, I'd be fine, right? Not right. Corn likes to sneak up in everything, so even when I think I'm eating something completely fine, it might not be. For example, if I have anything but all natural honey, they might have fed the bees corn, so then there's corn in my honey. Or if I want a juicy red apple, I might need to skin it first because the shiny wax they put on the outside may have corn in it as well. Needless to say, I have a stomach ache most of the time. No bueno.

I've seen many doctors over the years and tried lots of meds and diets to help me out but most things just haven't worked or have too hard for me to stick to. Because I'm lazy and picky. But recently I've found what Eric and I both think is a solution! I've been going to special chiropractor who does a special type where he's supposed to help restore the damage done to my nerves from my disease. So far, I've felt so much better and I have tons more energy! His name is Dr. Loren Grover and he works for Gentle Pain Care Centers in Salt Lake City. I think if anyone has any similar issues like me, they should totally look into going there. Click here to check out their website! To help jump start my recovery, Dr. Grover has started me on this diet called the GAPS diet, which is supposed to help heal my stomach. Eric is doing it with me, so I'll post more about our journey through it. We have high hopes that I can finally be all good and healthy! The GAPS Diet (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) has a book that teaches you how to cook and what to eat.

So along with all of these things, we're working out! I'm working it with Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack abs and we're both getting into running. Eric used to swim competitively in high school, so he's teaching me how to do that as well.

This a pretty long post, but I'm just so excited about getting healthy that I need to share it to the world!    So we'll share what happens next with this journey!
